At the top of the homepage, you will see a tab called Newsletters.
Click on the link and scroll down to see the Y2 newsletter for Summer 1. This will tell you all that we are going to learn about this half term.
You will also find out who our 100% attendance children are for Spring 2.
Will your name be on the list?
These two children have impressed the adults in Pearl class all week with their brilliant attitude to their writing this week. You have done everything that the adults have asked you to do and more!
Fantastic effort – keep up the hard work!
We are very lucky to have not one but two mathematicians of the week today!
We have been doing some tricky work this week all about fractions and you two boys have been amazing! You can recognise 1 half, 1 third and 1 quarter and you know that 1 half is the same as 2 quarters. Fantastic effort boys! Keep it up!
This week, the whole school has been busy learning about Global Citizenship.
KS1 decided that they looked at the theme of Poverty and Hunger. These are just 2 of the 17 global goals.
In September 2015, 193 world leaders agreed to 17 Global Goals for Sustainable Development. If these Goals are completed, it would mean an end to extreme poverty, inequality and climate change by 2030.

In Pearl class, we didn’t really know what poverty was so we explored this a little bit further. We looked at what might cause people to live in poverty and then thought about some solutions that we could use to prevent people from being in poverty. This happens in the UK and well as around the world.
We had some really thoughtful ideas and tried hard to think of sustainable solutions!
We also had a day where we moved around the different classes in KS1.
With Miss Duddle, we learnt about our basic needs.
With Miss Mason, we learnt about the uneven distribution of food around the world.
With Miss Breeze, we learnt about where food comes from.
And with Miss Varley and Miss Deighton, we learnt about how poverty affects people’s lives and how to prevent it.
The lucky winner of Pride of Prince Edward came from Pearl class today… what a superstar!
This is why she won the award:
She is a fantastic member of Pearl class. She is polite, well mannered and always has a smile on her face. She has a real enthusiasm for her learning and is improving in leaps and bounds every single day with everything that she does. She can be relied upon on to complete work to the highest standard and is a real credit to her classmates and the school.
Today we had our annual FS and KS1 Easter Workshop. We invited our grown ups into school to come and make some Easter crafts with us. Everyone had such a fabulous time.
Many thanks to our grown ups for your continued support and for coming to join in with us. It means such a lot to us and we really appreciate it.
We have also been busy tasting hot cross buns, making Easter cards for our loved ones and Easter baskets in hope that the Easter bunny would come to visit. He did and he left us a special treat! What did you get?
Happy Easter everyone!
Remember we are back to school on Monday 24th April!
