Another annual tradition but another one we love doing, check out our calendars for 2021!
We have had such a busy time at school getting ready for Christmas. Take a look below to find out just what we got up to in December…
We kicked off our festive celebrations with a trip to City Hall after we were invited to the watch the Variety pantomime Aladdin and Christmas Party. We had such an amazing time, danced our socks off and even Santa popped in to say hello!
Thank you for the invite Variety.
Our grown ups were invited to come and spend the morning with us making some Christmas crafts. We really love it when our grown ups come into school and spend some time with us in the classroom. Thank you!
After weeks of practice, it was time for our Y2 Nativity Performance. We worked hard to learn the songs, rehearsed our lines and had a brilliant time putting on the nativity for our grown ups.
Here are just a few comments about what our grown ups thought…
In the last week before we broke up, it was Christmas Party and Disco afternoon. We had a wonderful time playing games, eating delicious party food and being with our friends.
On the last day of term, Santa took time out of his really busy schedule and paid us a visit! He left us a present which we can’t wait to use in the New Year.
Finally, we were very busy in the run up to Christmas, creating Christmas cards, using printing techniques to making calendars and sewing some snowmen puppets.
We have had a brilliant Autumn term in Y2 and we can’t wait to see what we will be learning about in the Spring.
We hope that you have all had a very merry Christmas and we wish you a Happy New Year. See you all on Monday 8th January 2018.
This week, we have been so busy getting ready for Christmas we have been in overdrive.
On Monday, we had our Christmas Party and we even had a special visitor. We danced, played some party games and then went back to the classroom for some party food.
Santa brought us a class game of Jenga to play and a new story book to add to our book collection. The book is called Superworm and it is by one of our favourite authors, Julia Donaldson. Thank you Santa!
We have made Christmas cards to send to someone special in our families.
We loved making our Christmas calendars with the penguins on. First we had to paint a blue background. Next we had to use a large potato dipped in black paint for the body and then we had to let it dry. If we didn’t, the colours would run into each other. Then we used a smaller potato for the white part of the penguin’s body and used a paintbrush to add on details like eyes, wings, beak and feet. Once everything has dried, we used some silver glittery finger paint to make it look like the penguins were gliding on the smooth, sparkling ice.
We made some snowman puppets as well and had a chance to practise our sewing skills. We are sure that you will agree that our snowmen puppets look brill!
Pearl class would like to wish all of their friends and followers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
We will see you all again soon in the New Year! Back to School – Tues 3rd Jan 2017
