Y2 Athletics @ Ponds Forge

This week, some of Y2 were invited to an athletics event run by some students from SHU at Ponds Forge. We set off on the tram and couldn’t wait to get started. Lots of other local schools had been invited too! Once everyone has arrived, we made a start.

We completed lots of different events to practise our skills. We even had a go at some brand new activities too! Javelin was definitely one of our favourite activities of the morning.

At the end of the morning, we found out who had taken 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

We were so pleased to hear that Prince Edward had come into 2nd place! We are very proud of ourselves and we can’t wait for the next invitation to join in with more sporting activities.

FS2 and KS1 Sports Day

On Friday, we had a FS2 and KS1 Sports Day.

First we went to the hall and we were put into teams. Each team had a mixture of FS2, Y1 and Y2 children in. Then we went to the MUGA pitch where the activities were set out. Some of the Y6 children came to help us out as well.

Some of the activities that we had to complete were:

  • Running Race
  • Egg and Spoon Race
  • Sack Race
  • Penalty Shoot Out with the Y6s
  • Bean Bag Throw
  • Zig Zag Race
  • Hurdles Race
  • Skipping Race

Some of the races were easy and some of them were tough but we didn’t give up and continued to show perseverance throughout the morning! We cheered our teams on to help keep everyone going.

We had so much fun and even the rain held off until we were back inside. The winning team got a special medal and everyone took a certificate home to say that they took part in the morning.

We love to do sports and are looking forward to next year already!

Thanks to everyone who took part – it was a great day!

Sport Relief

On Friday 18th March, we celebrated Sport Relief throughout school. Everyone had to run a mile around the playground and the MUGA pitch. We ran with some of our Y5 children and some of our parents came along too to join in.

We helped to raise money for Sport Relief by coming to school in our sports kits and buying a Sport Relief band for £1.

Thank you to all of our parents and children who donated money to a worthy cause!
