You can see on one of our previous posts that we have been learning about Stan and Mabel and we visited the Crucible Theatre to see the story being performed live. Click here to see the post.

When we returned to school, we talked about the performance and what we had seen and heard from Polly and Ensemble 360. After a discussion, we decided that we would like to become newspaper reporters and write the front page on a newspaper, imagining that we were there when all of the chaos, mayhem and pandemonium hit the streets of the busy, noisy city.

Have a look at our front pages and let us know what you think.

In school, we have been working hard to learn the story and the songs so that we would be able to join in with the concert today! Click here if you would like to see Polly sing the songs from the concert.

We travelled on the tram into town and then walked to the Crucible Theatre. This is one of our favourite places in Sheffield to visit!

We found our seats in the Crucible and then waited for Polly and Ensemble 360 to come onto the stage. We knew it was time to start when the lights went out and everything went dark!

We had an amazing time watching Stan and Mabel, singing along to all of the songs and doing the actions. This was our favourite trip so far of the year. We loved being able to see the musicians from Ensemble 360 play the different instruments. Lots of these we hadn’t seen or heard before. We saw a flute, an oboe, a clarinet, a bassoon, a french horn, a double bass, a cello, a viola, a violin and a piano.

Mr Sieczkarek couldn’t believe that your handwriting came from a Y2 – he thought it was a Y6 child’s handwriting! You have written a superb story of Stan and Mabel in your own words – it was a pleasure to mark! Well done! 🙂
