Y2 Sports Day 2019

We have been really lucky to attend the Y2 Sports Day at the English Institute of Sport. We took part in lots of different activities to test our throwing and catching skills as well as looking at seeing how quick we could run, jog and walk. Everybody had lots of fun… we can’t wait for next year’s sports day!

Thank you to our parents and carers who came along with on the day. Your help means so much to the children and help us continue to attend these events.

Here are just some of the activities that we took part in.

Y2 Sports Day @ EIS

We love going on a trip, especially one to the English Institute of Sport!

After a short trip on a packed-out tram, we arrived at the EIS and had a quick snack before we got ourselves into teams of 10.

We completed lots of different activities throughout the day and we had a fabulous time. Just look at some of the activities that we completed below.

Each adult then chose a member of their team to receive an Athlete of the Day certificate. The winner of this award displayed the sports values throughout the day and was a very worthy winner!

Although we didn’t have any teams that placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd on the day, we had a brilliant day and look forward to doing it all again soon!

Y2 Sports Day

We were so excited to be going on a trip to the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield to join in with other Y2 children to do lots of different sport activities. This was run by LINKS that help to run PE in schools across Sheffield.

We left school and had to get two trams. The first one to take us into town and then we had to swap over to catch the second tram to take us to the EIS.

When we arrived at the EIS, we found our seats and then we split up into our teams. Here are some of the activities that we completed on the day.

As we moved around each activity, we got to meet two mascots who came to support the teams and cheer them on.

We had that much fun that we even had 2 children in our class have their wobbly teeth fall out.

At the end of the day, the scores were added up and 1st, 2nd and 3rd place were announced. Although we didn’t come in the top three places, our teachers were so impressed with how we were able to work together as a team, showed good sportsmanship and our excellent cheering for each other, everyone was awarded a certificate for taking part and one child from each team was awarded a certificate for being the athlete of the day by showing one of the LINKS sports values.

A fantastic effort from everyone! Well done for being brilliant ambassadors for our school!

FS2 and KS1 Sports Day

On Friday, we had a FS2 and KS1 Sports Day.

First we went to the hall and we were put into teams. Each team had a mixture of FS2, Y1 and Y2 children in. Then we went to the MUGA pitch where the activities were set out. Some of the Y6 children came to help us out as well.

Some of the activities that we had to complete were:

  • Running Race
  • Egg and Spoon Race
  • Sack Race
  • Penalty Shoot Out with the Y6s
  • Bean Bag Throw
  • Zig Zag Race
  • Hurdles Race
  • Skipping Race

Some of the races were easy and some of them were tough but we didn’t give up and continued to show perseverance throughout the morning! We cheered our teams on to help keep everyone going.

We had so much fun and even the rain held off until we were back inside. The winning team got a special medal and everyone took a certificate home to say that they took part in the morning.
