Christmas Hampers

Some children in Pearl class were asked to complete a very special job. Normally we would invite members of the community into school and provide them with a delicious Christmas lunch and Y2 would sing some of their favourite songs for them. Unfortunately this year, that hasn’t been possible so instead we went to them.

Miss French drove our brand new minibus about the local area. We were the first children in the whole school to have a ride on the minibus. We were very excited.

We delivered some very special hampers and did some social distancing singing. Everyone was just so pleased to see us and listen to our wonderful singing. We were glad that we could make them smile and we look forward to having them back in school very soon.

Please note that no breaking of the bubbles took place during this afternoon.

To say thank you for our special visits, some of the grown ups gave us some chocolate and some biscuits. We are going to save them for our class Christmas party tomorrow and share them with everyone in Pearl class.

Christmas Nativity

Today we held our Christmas Nativity performance. It was a little unusual as our adults couldn’t come into school to watch us so instead we held it over Zoom for our adults to see us.

We practised for weeks to learn the songs, the actions and our speaking parts. We have loved putting on the performances for our adults to see and we hope you enjoyed it too.

Miss French sent us this email with a lovely comment about our performance. She said, ‘Good morning Pearl class. I have just watched your Christmas performance and I LOVED it! You sang your hearts out, I loved the actions and your speaking parts were lovely and clear. You all looked like real professionals and I now am feeling very Christmassy. Well done to everyone!’

Black History Month Part 2

Today we met up with Y5 via Zoom to share what we had been learning about for Black History Month.

We sang them a song called Hands, Feet, Heart which originates from South Africa and we shared lots of information we had learnt about Mary Seacole.

In turn Y5 shared information with us about a man called Mahatma Gandhi. We learnt about his life and the struggles he faced throughout his life.

Thank you for sharing your learning with us Y5. We can’t wait until next time.

Today was the day that we had all been waiting for… Today was the day that we went to the Crucible Theatre to see Stan and Mabel.

In school, we have been working hard to learn the story and the songs so that we would be able to join in with the concert today! Click here if you would like to see Polly sing the songs from the concert.

We travelled on the tram into town and then walked to the Crucible Theatre. This is one of our favourite places in Sheffield to visit!

We found our seats in the Crucible and then waited for Polly and Ensemble 360 to come onto the stage. We knew it was time to start when the lights went out and everything went dark!

We had an amazing time watching Stan and Mabel, singing along to all of the songs and doing the actions. This was our favourite trip so far of the year. We loved being able to see the musicians from Ensemble 360 play the different instruments. Lots of these we hadn’t seen or heard before. We saw a flute, an oboe, a clarinet, a bassoon, a french horn, a double bass, a cello, a viola, a violin and a piano.

Y2 Class Assembly

This week we had our class assembly and this was our chance to tell our grown ups and the rest of the school what we have been learning about this year.

This was our chance to sing some of our favourite songs and tell everyone about our fabulous trip to Whirlow Hall Farm. Click here to see the original post.

Thank you to all of our grown ups for coming to watch us.

Christmas Nativity

Today was the day! Today was the day we performed our Y2 Christmas Nativity for all of our mums, dads, grandparents and other family members. We have been practising our songs, actions and our lines to make that today was perfect. Our favourite part was when we got to put our costumes on.

We hope that our grown ups enjoyed watching our nativity. We loved being able to perform it. Thank you for coming to watch us!

Here are some of the comments that our grown ups left:

  • Well done Y2 – a well performed nativity.
  • It was wonderful.
  • It was lovely – I am very proud of your school.
  • We really enjoyed it so much – well done to all! 🙂
  • Brill – fantastic as always.
  • It was really good – all of the kids got their lines correct. It was excellent.
  • I could watch this again and again if I had the chance! 10/10!
  • A really lovely traditional nativity.k

Christmas Singing

Every year at school, we invite some people from our local community to our school to enjoy a Christmas lunch with us.

This year, we had the very special honour of singing for our visitors. We have been practising our songs for our Christmas Nativity and our visitors really enjoyed listening to the songs that we sang.

We hope that they enjoyed the performance, because we really enjoyed singing for an audience.
